The Ramen Review

Xo

Woohoo finally the second Ramen Review! –Sorry,Sorry-
But to make it up I’m reviewing this ‘super-deluxe’ noodlesoup,……so it looks like from the outside.
This time I’m reviewing the Instant Fried Noodle, from Nissin. And not to forget with Xo sauce seafood flavor! I’ll call it Xo for this review.
Let me just tell me my first impressions of this state-of-art big noodlesoup….
It’s really the biggest I’ve eaten so far, though that’s all good.
Nice package, I love the blueish part with the noodles just screaming to be eaten. And in comparison with other Nissin products this is presented in a plastic ‘bowl’.
I do prefer Polystyrene packages but those people over at Nissin had implemented a nifty trick to this fellow. I’ll tell you more about it later.

Xo

Let’s open this thing up.
I really like the idea of an actual cover instead of a ‘lid-halfway’, so +point over there. The cover looks like a UFO with all those buttons on it.
And the Xo is action-packed! Besides the normal sachets there’s a fork and a piece of paper with instructions on it! It just can’t go wrong!
Ow yea, the sachets look pretty cool. There’s this transparent sachet with the condiments and a shiny sachet with the seasoning sauce.
They also included a fork, I like that. Now let’s have a look at the noodles…….it really smells good already. Fried noodles so they say… And there’s a good amount of it, so It really filled up my tummy.
Ah yes, while checking all the things … the nifty trick I mentioned before showed itself. It’s this double sided wall!
If you look real good at the picture you can see the noodle in the bowl as if there’s space around it. Though it’s actually already leaning to the first ‘wall’! That means there’s space in between them, sort of a cushion of air.
‘So?’ you may say? ‘Doh!’
This is one great invention in the history of noodles, at least for me. With this trick applied to it you can pour in hot lava though you’ll not burn your hands! Now that’s cool.
Dance with it, whirl it around, balance it on your nose it doesn’t matter. It’ll stay cool.

Xo

Tanaka Reina

Let’s eat this, because that’s what it’s all about right?
You may look as hot as Tanaka Reina in a swimsuit, but we also need to know what’s really behind the sexy swimsuit right?

Let’s get the handy instruction paper, and it tells me to open up the cover and throw in the condiments sachet. Where others tell you to drop everything into it before pouring in the water, this on does it step by step. Hmmm
Oki, pour boiling water up to the indicated line. I couldn’t see any line though I just poured in all the water I had. Put the cover back onto the bowl and open up the perforation holes.
Holes? Indeed holes, don’t ask me for what purpose because I don’t quite know either. Maybe to free some steam? (huh)
Wait the usual three minutes.

The third step is something different and I haven’t seen it before, it tells me to drain away the from the perforation holes,….ooooow…
Well basically there wasn’t much water left, and I like to slurp the noodle away with the water so I skipped this step.
Arrived at step four we finally add the seasoning sauce, stir it and serve!
The first slurp/bite was surprisingly eugh! Ok,….it wasn’t that bad but it had like a weird taste of nothing. I stirred it even more and by then the real seafood flavor was taste-able.
The big sachet with it’s sauce did his job fine. The noodle itself was not soft, but rather stiff. I like that, I prefer soft but this wasn’t that bad.
And the condiments sachet was really good, I could really taste it so that’s good.
So all in all the Xo tasted really good, I felt ‘happy’ while eating this.

The verdict.
To sum it all up the Xo is like Tanaka Reina in a sexy swimsuit! Yup, swimsuit, cuteness, sweetness you just can’t miss out this package deal!
It’s just like that.
The package with it’s state-of-the-art double sided wall, that was cool (literally). The content with it’s fork and sachets. The fork did it’s job and the sachets worked together like a team.
The fried noodle which were stiff, tasted delicious. And the size of it!….it’ll definitely satisfy you.

With that said it’s still pretty hard to give it a rating. Though what it gets from me is a 9.2
Yup, that’s how I feel. I feel a 9.2 out of ten.
So go get the Xo if you see one! Until then stay tuned for more Ramen Reviews which are on their way! And please leave a comment if you’ve read all of it, I’d appreciate it. ;)

  3. Cool Review. You should try the Cup Noodles from Nissin. Not the one in normal supermarkets, but those from the Chinese Warehouses. Polystrene cup, you can’t miss them.
